The standards for engine rebuilds are incredibly high - giving you oil-tight and trouble-free motorcycling. In addition, we assemble all of the engines in a purpose-built dust-free room with no machine tools present, this ensures the engine components, and there are plenty of them in the triple, do not get contaminated.

Initially, your engine is inspected for wear and damage. An estimate is then compiled listing all new parts, engineering work, repairs, and options such as exterior cosmetics and other valuable modifications, such as dynamic balancing, lead-free conversion, tuning options, etc. This allows you to tailor the work to your requirements.

CRANKSHAFT

The crankshafts are reground accurately, with the correct specification radii. Dynamic balancing of the crankshaft is recommended for the circumferential balance and the balance across the shaft (rocking couple). It’s this method of balancing which produces the smoothest ride.

CYLINDER HEAD

We offer accurate and quality cylinder head renovation work. We also strongly recommend using our Colisbro material valve guides that comprise a Copper, Nickel, Silicone alloy that resists wearing, corrosion, has high tensile strength, and can cope with rapid temperature changes. In addition, hardened valve seats are fitted for the use of unleaded fuel.

CYLINDER BARRELS

All cylinders are bored to within 0.002” (thou), then put onto our Delapena Honer and honed to an exact size. Using a modern bring machine eliminates the chances of misalignment with the cylinder and ensures the rebores are vertical & parallel.

CONNECTING ROD

The conrod is one of the most stressed components in the engine. Its failure can ruin an engine. With most original rods being over 40 years old, we at SRM would advise that new rods are fitted to each re-conditioned engine.

BUSHES

We would replace the worn bushes with high-quality bushes, and often, these would have to be in special sizes to accommodate wear in the engine cases.

HOW TO START THE REBUILD

If you are sending a complete engine, you will need to build the engine into a substantial wooden box. Then contact us with the weight and dimensions of the box, and we can organise the collection. We will use the same box to return the rebuilt engine to you.

BRING THE WHOLE BIKE

We offer a complete service in which we will remove the engine, do a complete rebuild and refit the engine back to the chassis. We would then put the bike on the rolling road and set up the ignition timing and carburation.
