Brakes

Brakes are one of the most if not the most important pieces of equipment fitted to your motorcycle. Brakes are often sadly overlooked but are a vital tool in keeping you and others around you safe. Brakes are small, simple devices, which when used to their maximum have to absorb more energy than their bike's engine produces.

SRM Engineering offer a service for most motorcycles using drum brakes; Brake shoes can be relined to suit all applications from vintage to the fastest classic racers. To recondition a brake, SRM must have the complete brake, which usually means having the wheel as well. Brake shoes can be machined to size on a lathe and drum skimming can now also be undertaken with the wheel complete.

This is a service unique to SRM Engineering.

Please note after we rebuild a wheel, we would recommend that the hub is skimmed as the hubs can distort when laced up. It makes sense to have your brakes working at maximum efficiency to cope with modern traffic conditions. The brake shoes can be relined and then machined to suit the newly skimmed hub to give you the maximum braking efficiency.
