Our kits, utilising positive toothed pulleys for positive drive, and a toothed steel wire reinforced belt, (the same as found on your Clutch belt systems). The toothed pulleys also gear up the Dynamo speed which gives you a higher positive charge at lower Rpm, enabling the use of brilliant lights that you can see in the dark, and also a charged battery into the bargain!
When converting from a 6 volt to 12 volt system, the battery and bulbs will also need to be changed. When you up-grade the electrical system it is very important to provide the system with a battery of suitable capacity (A/H). A battery that has too low a capacity (too small) will discharge quickly when the dynamo is not charging (when travelling at very slow speeds in top gear with the lights on). Discharging & charging in this way reduces the battery life significantly. A 12 volt battery has twice as many “Cells” and so will have to be larger than the original 6 volt battery.A 12 volt 5 Ampere/hour is the minimum that should be used.
