SRM's Classic Bike Magazine. T140 Engine Build.

Rick and GeoffCLASSIC BIKE's T140 FLAT-TRACKER.       SRM's Engine Build (stage one)

It’s good to be recognised as one of the leaders in classic motorcycling and to have our skills showcased by one of the most popular Classic motorcycle enthusiast Magazines in the country.

Mid-August and the phone in the office rings, on the other end of the phone is Hugo Wilson –Editor of Classic Bike magazine, asking if we at SRM would like to become involved in their latest project. Classic Bike is building a Triumph T140 flat tracker, and were looking for a professional company to re-build their engine.

Needless to say, it didn’t take very long to strike an agreement, so as soon as a schedule of work had been worked out, then the Triumph engine would be packed up and driven to SRM Engineering by Rick Parkington, Journalist and Classic Bike’s very own mechanical marvel.

Rick arrived one morning, thirsty and hungry after driving his transit van – (loaded with a cardboard box full of bits) across the Cambrian Mountains, along some of the best motorcycling roads in the country and to the best motorcycling workshop in Wales. The engine was hauled from the back of the van and into the workshop for a quick look-see, but not before Rick was guided through all the different departments and being introduced to virtually all members of staff.

Its soon dinner time so we settle for some cheese and ham salad baps followed by coffee before delving into the T140 engine and beginning our autopsy… the engine don’t look too bad at first glance…

more next month!!
