Cylinders
At SRM we have a Rottler 2MB Series cylinder boring machine.
The machine has variable feed rates and is highly accurate, maximising the performance of machine operations. Increase spindle feed rates for simple oversize bores. Decrease feed rates for sleeve cuts or counter bores. The machine can bore with optional cutter heads and special carbide tools are available for counter boring and chamfer cutting
All our cylinders are bored to within 0.002” (thou), then put onto our Delapena Honer and honed to an exact size, within two tenths of a thou (0.0002”) tolerance, using a 180 grade hone. The bores are then honed with a 320 grade cork stone to give a perfectly Plateau honed finish.
